My name is Marianne. Family, friends and kindred spirits also call me Marian or Mary Ann.

I don’t take anything for granted, including the world we live in and life in general. I’d like to call myself one of Mother Nature’s biggest fans. I find nature and the animal kingdom fascinating and I have a special interest in jellyfish and the enchanting and colourful world of primates. In my daily life I take care of primates at a rescue and rehabilitation centre for exotic animals.

I love being a little bit naughty. Being good all the time is too boring. I don’t do 50%’s, usually finish whatever I start and I prefer regretting things I did, rather than regretting things I didn’t do. Furthermore I’d like to think I’m polite, a dreamer, perfectionist, idealist and to add a little contradiction, also a realist.  According to my visual DNA, I am a “go-getter” and I think this classification suits me well. If I want something, I reach out, although it’s not always succesfull. I like to work hard and I love being around people I care about and have fun with. Some say I can be incredibly stubborn too. I have to admit they are right…

I love to travel and my heart was stolen in Africa (this is as far as I can go when it comes down to African crime rates). I can’t think of a better reason to go back there. After all, what’s a heart without a home and vice versa?

Taking pictures is another thing I love doing. Capturing moments, places, people and animals I never want to forget. Also, my life wouldn’t be complete without a soundtrack. It’s very important to me, everywhere and always. I like how music helps me unwind and switch off,  transporting me far away from the everyday grind.

Together with my friend Susan, I will share some bits of my life in this blog, hoping you will enjoy reading our adventures and stupidities, laughing with us and crying with us.

Behind this blog, you can see some of my photographs. It’s a whole different world out there. Visit that world: Marianne’s Photography
